He is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He was previously a member of the rap group Nappy Headz. In 2002 he founded his own label, Hard & B., and released his first single in August 2005, “I’m Sprung”. Their debut album, Rappa Ternt Sanga, was released on November 8, 2005. Recognized for using the Auto-Tune effect in his singing and phrasing, until 2011 in which he decided to give up such effect.123 He has achieved many successes as in the Billboard Hot 100, in 2008 he won a Grammy award with Kanye West, with the single “Good Life” and in 2010 he repeated the award with Jamie Foxx with “Blame It”. He also has his record label Nappy Boy Entertainment established in 2005. Najm was raised in a Muslim home, but has expressed a lack of interest in religion.45
In 2009 he collaborated with country pop singer Taylor Swift and Jennifer Moller on the single “Thugh Story”. He intends to team up with Lil Wayne to duet as T-Wayne and make an album of the best of Weezy and Teddy.
